Stephen R. Ellis, MD

Dr. Ellis is the co-founder of the L.A.B. med spa and serves as one of its Medical Directors. Board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology, he brings extensive medical leadership and clinical experience to the practice. In addition to his role at the L.A.B., Dr. Ellis works with Metro Anesthesia. He has served as Chief of Anesthesia and Chief of Staff at Medical City Lewisville and Medical Director for Trinity Park Surgery Center.

A proud alumnus of Texas A&M University, Dr. Ellis carries his Aggie pride with him, Gig ’em Aggies! He is also the recipient of the Frist Humanitarian Award, an honor recognizing individuals who are dedicated to improving the lives of others and who go beyond everyday kindness through service, compassion, and generosity.

Two organizations especially close to Dr. Ellis’s heart are MS 150 and Faith in Practice. After watching his mother live with multiple sclerosis from an early age, he began riding the MS 150 more than 20 years ago as a way to honor and support her while raising money for research and, ultimately, a cure.

Through Faith in Practice, Dr. Ellis volunteers with surgical teams serving communities in Guatemala. Each year, he travels alongside other physicians and medical staff to donate a full week of his time, providing anesthesia for surgical cases and often stepping in as the team’s resident “handyman” when older hospital equipment needs extra attention.

Dr. Ellis has deep respect for those who have served our country and has supported numerous organizations and athletic events that give back to wounded veterans. He also enjoys challenging himself physically through extreme fitness experiences such as SEALFIT and GORUCK.

According to his wife, Sonya, Dr. Ellis is a fabulous husband and father. He has always supported her many business endeavors while remaining an ever-present role model in their son Cade’s life. Now empty nesters since Cade began attending Texas A&M University, Dr. Ellis and Sonya enjoy life with their 80-pound Giant Schnauzer, Kaiser, spending time with friends, and traveling the world whenever they have the opportunity
